Are the maps in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 any good? Competitive players weigh in
As the competitive scene in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continues to grow, some have started to share their opinion on the game’s maps.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released last weekend on October 25, 2024. And while it’s been getting a lot of praise for its campaign, Zombies mode, and the changes made to the multiplayer experience, as with any launch of an online game there have also been plenty of annoyances and problems for players, who haven’t hesitated to take online to air their frustrations. But among issues and bugs, the most important part of the game is its content. So are the multiplayer maps in it up to the task?
Well, while many are having fun, other competitive players and streamers aren’t quite as happy with what Treyarch is offering from the start. With 12 maps to choose from at launch and more already on their way, like the legendary Nuketown battlefield that is already set for release later this week, One would imagine there’d be some variety for all tastes. According to Dashy and Shotzzy from OpTic Texas, that isn’t the case.
“We have no maps this year, bro,” said Dashy on stream. “The maps are f**king dogs**t bro. The game’s good, but the maps are f**king horrible … They just need to add some of the Black Ops 4 maps.”
Other pro players feel similarly, with Atlanta FaZe’s Simp claiming that all of the maps on show are “one-dimensional” and compared them to previous fan-hated maps in older games. Just the same, social media is exploding right now with criticism for the maps. Of course, there’s no objective way of confirming if these maps are good or not, but the general sentiment is that they’re not as good as people expected. We’ll have to wait and see if Treyarch is able to turn things around with updates and additions to the map selection.
