Arnold Schwarzenegger tells of nearly dying before filming ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’
The famous actor explains in a new video on his YouTube channel how he almost lost his life during a heart surgery a few years ago.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Hollywood legend, both for his iconic roles on the big screen and for his towering personality inside and outside the film industry, as well as for the spectacular physique he has maintained since his days as Mister Olympia. And it is precisely because he has pushed his body to the limit for so many years that he has been on the verge of death more than once due to cardiovascular problems. The actor recently spoke about how close he came to death during open-heart surgery a few years ago, just before filming ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’: “I was really freaking out.”
Why did Schwarzenegger almost die?
He explained it in a revealing video that we show you below, in which the actor explains what really happened and how he felt at the time. It all stemmed from a heart valve replacement surgery, in which surgeons had to intervene urgently to save the life of the Conan and Terminator actor.
“I was really freaking out. I woke up and all of a sudden the doctors were in front of me saying, ‘I’m so sorry but it was unlike what we planned.’ [They said], ‘We made a mistake and poked through the heart wall,’ and had to open me up very quickly.” He added, “The bottom line is, you cannot roll the clock back. I was in the middle of a disaster. So now how do I get out of it? You have to shift gears. Collect yourself, shift gears and say, ‘Okay what I need to do now is get out of this hospital,’” says the actor.
Fortunately, all went well and Arnold Schwarzenegger was able to undergo his third heart surgery just before the start of filming for Terminator: Dark Fate’ (2019). Today, Schwarzenegger recently premiered his new series FUBAR on Netflix, and has been promoting his show with a series of raunchy clips and trailers.
