We look at one of the most peculiar Easter eggs in Terminator 2D: No Fate, which references a behind-the-scenes story from the 1991 film.

Update:

Terminator 2D: No Fate is a pleasant surprise that arrived on current platforms at the end of 2025. It is an official adaptation that is very faithful to the legendary ‘Terminator 2′ (1991), and as such, it has many references and tributes to James Cameron’s film. One of its most entertaining—and obscure—Easter eggs is the option to have the T-800 wear colorful swim trunks... a humorous reference to a production detail from the feature film, as Arnold Schwarzenegger wore the same garment in a scene where his character was naked.

The title we have before us is an adaptation of the original 1991 film directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong, Linda Hamilton, and Robert Patrick. With Contra-style two-dimensional action gameplay, Terminator 2D: No Fate allows us to relive many of the film’s most iconic sequences, such as the escape from the psychiatric hospital, the assault on the Cyberdyne offices, the chase along the highway, and the final confrontation at the steel mill.

The sequence in which the Terminator T-800, played by Schwarzenegger, arrives in the past is also included. Shortly after traveling through time, he bursts into a biker bar, where a brawl breaks out when the humanoid-looking machine enters completely naked, demanding the clothes and vehicle of one of the patrons.

During the filming of the scene, Arnie was not completely naked, but wore purple Hawaiian swim trunks with colorful prints. However, through camera tricks and shot changes, the illusion was created that the T-800 was “naked.” When the photographs of the moment were made public, it became one of the most peculiar and funny production anecdotes of ‘Terminator 2′ after its release.

In No Fate, given its status as the official video game of the film, it was decided to pay tribute to this behind-the-scenes detail. If we play on the highest difficulty setting, called “Judgment Day,” during the “Biker Bar” level, we will see that the T-800 is not naked as in the film, but wears the iconic swimsuit that Schwarzenegger wore in real life. This has no effect on gameplay, but if we know the story and it catches us off guard, it will surely make us laugh out loud.

Details like this demonstrate the care with which Bitmap Bureau has treated the legacy of one of the best films of all time, going so far as to include relatively unknown behind-the-scenes references. This little nod will delight longtime fans and only reinforces the feeling that this is a love letter to Terminator 2.
