Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced leaks after PEGI listing appears

A new PEGI listing confirms the long-rumored Black Flag project, hinting at an imminent reveal at The Game Awards.

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag
Update:

It appears the worst-kept secret in the seven seas is finally official. A new listing for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has appeared on the PEGI website. While Ubisoft has yet to make a formal statement, a rating from a major classification board is effectively a confirmation that the game exists and is nearing a reveal.

The listing, which rated the title as PEGI 18 due to violence and strong language, has since been taken down, but not before confirming the game’s new subtitle: Resynced. This specific branding is interesting; it avoids the standard “Remastered” or “Remake” tags, leaning instead into the franchise’s “Animus” lore.

What “Resynced” means for gameplay and monetization

The PEGI listing notably includes a tag for “in-game purchases.” In the modern Ubisoft ecosystem, this likely points to integration with the Animus Hub (formerly known as Assassin’s Creed Infinity). This platform acts as a launcher for the series’ future, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, on a more positive note, it could also signal the return of substantial content, such as the acclaimed Freedom Cry expansion, potentially repackaged as downloadable content or included in a deluxe edition.

A Likely Premiere at The Game Awards?

The timing of this leak is hardly a coincidence. With The Game Awards airing this Thursday, the sudden appearance of a rating strongly suggests that Ubisoft is preparing a trailer for the event. This aligns with months of speculation and reports that the French publisher is looking to leverage its back catalog to bolster its upcoming release schedule.
