Assassin’s Creed Mirage has a very feline Easter Egg
Ubisoft has added the perfect cat-assin to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and it turned out to be a touching tribute in easter egg form.
Forget about a return to basics, leaving behind the overcomplicated RPG open-world mechanics of the last few games. Assassin’s Creed Mirage has something way better than all of that: pet-able cats. And while they were also there in Valhalla, one of them is also a part of the brotherhood of assassins.
Fans have begun discovering a very specific cat in the game that has a very deliberate Assassin’s Creed logo on their face, created with their fur patterns. Not only did they begin to share the cute feline online, raving about its cuteness, it’s also been revealed that the developers at Ubisoft actually did this with the purpose of serving as a tribute for a fan. Turns out, there was a real cat that carried the symbol on his snout, who sadly passed away before the game came out.
“Please add this cat who’s face has the AC logo on his precious snout to the game,” reads the original message sent to the devs. “He belonged to my friend and he recently crossed the rainbow bridge. I will happily pay with coffee and Timbits to any team members willing to pull overtime to put him in there.”
The work put in to bring the cat to life in the game is incredible, with an astonishing similarity to the original critter, from the patterns on its fur to its overall appearance. Now fans are melting at the sight of the “catassin”, as he has been dubbed, and at the way the developers listened to what could have been an easily ignored plea from the community.
The future of Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Unlike the previous trilogy, this new game does not have a season pass, which in a way previews Ubisoft’s approach to this game. Regarding whether or not there will be DLC, we refer to the statements of Stephane Boudon, creative director of Mirage: “For now, Mirage has no plan for DLC or extensive post-launch.”
Could it be that there’s a possibility of DLC coming later down the line? it does not seem that the studio has any intention of expanding the story, waiting for the next big installment, which will be Assassin’s Creed Codename RED. Still, you should never take anything for granted in this industry.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
