Assassin’s Creed Shadows gives in to pressure from Japan and will change these controversial contents
Ubisoft gives in to the Japanese government.

The controversy surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues. Beyond the choice of Yasuke as one of the main protagonists, the title allows a freedom of action against cult elements in Japan that did not please the Japanese executive. Finally, Ubisoft has given in to pressure and will modify many of the elements of discrepancy both at the gameplay and visual level. If you haven’t read our opinion yet, you can do so here.
These are the changes to Assassin’s Creed Shadows after pressure from Japan
What are they? Mainly the freedom that players have had to smash objects in the shrines and temples scattered around the world. The Day One patch, which will be available at launch, will remove the ability to smash boards and other objects in these locations. You will still be able to smash things like instruments, which Ubisoft says fall into the “generic” category. But no breaking of symbols sacred to Japan. They will still be able to be moved by the player’s actions, as they are dynamic objects.
The news comes through the confirmation of the company to IGN, which also assures that the patch will reach all versions of the game, that is, it is not exclusive to the Japanese version. The studio goes even further: it will reduce the amount of blood spilled in shrines and temples.

The Japanese government has taken a serious stand against Assassin’s Creed Shadows: “it is an insult to the nation itself”
Shigeru Ishiba, Prime Minister of Japan, was very blunt in one of his recent statements on the matter: “Defacing a shrine is out of the question - it is an insult to the nation itself. When the Self-Defense Forces were deployed to Samawah, Iraq, we ensured they studied Islamic customs beforehand. Respecting the culture and religion of a country is fundamental, and we must make it clear that we will not simply accept acts that disregard them.”
