Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed to 2025, with some changes coming to Ubisoft’s business model
Ubisoft has chosen to postpone the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows for quite a few months, as the long-awaited Japan-centric AC moves out of this year’s reach.
Bad news for fans waiting for the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as the game has been delayed until next year. This new adventure set in 16th-century Japan was scheduled to arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 15, but now it will do so a couple of months later, on February 14, 2025. Additionally, Ubisoft has confirmed that they will make some changes to the way they handle this and other of their franchises, including the fact that from now on all of their games will arrive on Steam on day 1 once again, starting with the upcoming AC title.
In the brief statement shared by the publisher, it is explained that while the game is now “feature complete”, their “learnings” from the launch of Star Wars Outlaws has led them to “provide additional time to further polish” Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
“This will enable the biggest entry in the franchise to fully deliver on its ambition, notably by fulfilling the promise of our dual protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke bringing two very different gameplaystyles,” said Ubisoft in their statement.
The story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in the 16th century, in the era of Japanese reunification at the hands of Oda Nobunaga, a historical period characterized by wars between feudal lords. In this context, the two protagonists of the adventure will develop their activity within the Order of Assassins.
