Assassin’s Creed Shadows highlights its beautiful version of Japan with a new trailer

Ubisoft’s next entry into their historic fiction series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is set to take place in 16th Century Japan, right in the middle of Oda Nobunaga’s reunification.

Under the burning heat of the Rising Sun, Japan headed toward a painful civil war. The feudal lords plotted their strategies and schemed to control the nation. It is the time of samurai and ninjas, of battles and the clattering of katana. For years, many fans have asked that the saga be moved to Japan, something that Ubisoft has finally done. With a few months left until the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the French company has just shared a new trailer for the game. The clip, which can be seen below, shows the world in all its splendor.

The story takes place in the 16th century, in the era of Japanese reunification at the hands of Oda Nobunaga, a historical period characterized by wars between feudal lords. In this context, the two protagonists of the adventure will develop their plans within the Order of Assassins.

These are the two protagonists of Assassin’s Creed Shadows

For the first time, players will have the opportunity to play as a real historical figure, the one considered the first samurai of African origin, Yasuke. This decision has brought with it some racist complaints, so Ubisoft has defended its position and recalled that the saga is based on real events, but that it is fiction.

The second protagonist is Naoe, who in the Assassin’s Creed Shadows fiction is the daughter of Fujibayashi Nagato - another character who existed in reality. Unlike Yasuke, the young woman masters the art of kunoichi ninjas, so she is much more subtle and silent than her male companion. While the samurai is ideal for face-to-face fights, Naoe stands out for her skills in stealth.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released next November 15 on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
