‘Avatar: Aang—The Last Airbender’ reveals its first trailer and a new chapter for the world after the war
The upcoming animated film explores legacy, loss, and the possibility that Aang may not be alone anymore.
Water, Earth, Fire, Air… After a long wait since its announcement four years ago—and a major incident involving a leak in April of this year—Paramount has finally released the first trailer for ‘Avatar: Aang—The Last Airbender’. The film reunites us with Team Avatar, now as adults, on a new adventure. You can watch it below:
Will Aang no longer be the last airbender?
The official logline for the film states, “Avatar Aang, the world’s last Airbender, learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.”
The trailer shows Aang and his friends as adults, working to restore the world after the Fire Nation’s 100-Year War. Although he is striving to rebuild the other nations, Aang regrets not being able to bring back the Air Nomads. During his journey, he discovers Tagah, a former airbender who might be able to help him revive his people’s culture.
The trailer also brings some great news: the film’s release date has been moved up from October 9 to July 25. This is likely due to the leak that occurred a few months ago. Paramount also plans to show some footage from the film during its opening weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, at its panel in the iconic Hall H on July 23.
‘Avatar: Aang—The Last Airbender’ marks the first film or television project from Avatar Studios, the division created in 2021 by Nickelodeon Animation Studios to expand the franchise’s universe. The film was originally planned for a theatrical release, which would have brought its stunning animation and action sequences to the big screen. However, in December 2025, Paramount decided to change course and release it directly to streaming.
The film stars Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko, and Dionne Quan as Toph and more.
‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender’ premieres July 25 on Paramount+.
