‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ is reportedly getting a AAA RPG by Saber Interactive

Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive have just announced that they’re working on the first ever AAA game set in Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, which will also expand the world created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko through an original story centered around a “never-before-seen Avatar.”

The revelation was made through IGN as an exclusive, in which they revealed that as the title is still in early development there aren’t many details that can be shared so far other that it will be “the biggest video game in franchise history”, according to the studios working on it. We also know that it’ll be available on PC and consoles, and that they’re working “in close collaboration” with Avatar Studios to create the new story.

According to the developers and publishers, the game will let players explore the story of an entirely new avatar, set thousands of years before the events of the original series. They claim that players “can expect to be immersed in a vibrant world, master all four elements, engage in dynamic combat alongside companions, and experience the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance in the world”

The world of Avatar continues to expand

“We know loyal fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been eager for more stories that bring them into the universe of the show,” Said Games and Emerging Media at Paramount SVP, Doug Rosen, in a statement. “Saber Interactive has a proven track record in bringing IP-based games to life, and we are excited to co-fund this AAA title alongside them and let fans experience this world first-hand.”

Josh Austin, Head of IP Development & Licensing at Saber Interactive said “At Saber, we are all truly fans of the IP we work with. Our team members are some of the most devoted, passionate creatives out there and it’s an honor to join forces with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games to further expand the Avatar Legends universe in video games. This unique co-fund structure is a result of our ever-expanding collaboration with Paramount, which started over a decade ago with WWZ, and we’re excited for all that’s on the horizon.”
