Avowed makes fantasy a reality with a new trailer at the Xbox Games Show 2023
Obsidian Entertainment’s new RPG, Avowed, is making its way to Xbox Series X|S and PC with a gameplay reveal trailer.
Talk about Avowed hadn’t stopped making noise since its reveal, but rumors, as rumors that they are, don’t always come true. On this occasion, however, fantasy has overwhelmed us and the Obsidian Entertainment game has left it clear what its capable of. This new RPG from the creators of Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds, and Pillars of Eternity has brought fans a spectacular trailer, which was presented during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. Without further ado, you can enjoy the video right here:
In this gameplay video, you can already see the tone it’s going for, closer to classic fantasy than the more comedic direction of many of the studio’s older titles. Players will put themselves in the shoes of the protagonist in first person and fight countless enemies and creatures, including specters from beyond the grave. The game will be released sometime in 2024.
Obsidian’s Skyrim?
Unlike other Obsidian productions, Avowed has been compared by the developers themselves with one of Bethesda’s most beloved sagas. According to the studio, the game takes a lot of inspiration from The Elder Scrolls. The irony is that Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda are already part of the same company, so from now on anything is possible, even who knows, maybe a Fallout: New Vegas 2. Its creator, of course, would love to do it before his retirement.
Avowed takes place in the same world as Pillars of Eternity and dazzles us with a universe of swords, sorcery, and dragons that fits the classic tone of epic fantasy in the purest Tolkien style.
Avowed is in development for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, although it still does not have a confirmed release date beyond the 2024 window. The studio was also responsible for Pentiment, and are working on The Outer Worlds 2 as well.
