‘Ballerina’ is the long-awaited spin-off of ‘John Wick’, which will continue to give us large doses of explosive action and spectacular sequences when it is released in 2025. This movie, starring Spanish-Cuban actress Ana de Armas, has unveiled its official poster, where we can see this star ready to give her all in her new cinematic adventure.
‘Ballerina’ unveils official poster: Ana de Armas stars in this new story from the ‘John Wick’ universe
On December 5, the official X account for the film ‘Ballerina’ revealed the official poster for the film. It features an image of Ana de Armas in a seductive, open-backed dress with her back to the camera and a gun in her hand. This image suggests a combination of elements related to the plot of the movie, including the feminine sensuality that the character exudes, as well as her lethality, as she is an assassin trained since childhood by the criminal organization known as Ruska Roma in the John Wick universe. All this in the characteristic purple and pink tones that evoke the neon of the most prestigious and crowded nightclubs, giving her a touch of sophistication and elegance that is also an essential factor in the franchise.
The tattoo on the back of Eva, Ana de Armas' character, reads “Lux in Tenebris,” which means “light in darkness” in Latin. It is a phrase inspired by the Gospel of John, which is used as a metaphor for perseverance in the face of adversity, something that fits very well with the synopsis of the film, and which highlights that, in addition to strict literalism, there will be a lot of symbolism in the plot. ‘Ballerina’ is a story of revenge, in which the protagonist wants to make amends for the unjust murder of her father.
‘Ballerina’ will be released worldwide on June 6, 2025. This ‘John Wick’ spin-off is directed by Len Wiseman (‘Underworld’, ‘Live Free or Die Hard′) and written by Shay Hatten. It stars Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane and Keanu Reeves.
