Barbie Cinematic Universe: Mattel Announces 13 Movies Based on Famous Toys

Hot Wheels, UNO, Barney, Masters of the Universe... Mattel confirms 14 movies as Barbie based on its multiple dolls, toys, and board games.

Update:
Barbie

Barbie has marked a before and after on many levels. Not only did she win the Barbenheimer, but Greta Gerwig’s movie (Lady Bird, Little Women) is breaking all kinds of records at the box office (it’s going for 400 million worldwide and rising from a budget of less than 100 million). So much so that Mattel, the company responsible for the famous doll, has decided to create an entire Barbie Cinematic Universe.

Will there be a Barbie sequel?

First of all, Mattel is not ruling out making several Barbie sequels (let’s hope they heard Cillian Murphy say that after Oppenheimer, he wants to play Ken in Barbie 2). According to the company, Barbie has “a very rich universe… It’s a very broad and very elastic brand, in terms of opportunities.” But it doesn’t stop with Barbie. Mattel has dozens of games, dolls, and plush toys, and has begun work on 13 movies about them. Barbie “will be remembered as a key milestone in our company’s history,” the company acknowledged.

All the movies Mattel is preparing about its toys

Let’s take a look at the 13 movies that Mattel has in the pipeline, but not before remembering that they will follow in the footsteps of Greta Gerwig’s adaptation, that is, they will be films made by Hollywood’s finest that strive to offer guaranteed quality. For example, the award-winning Daniel Kaluuya will direct Barney (in his directorial debut) and Vin Diesel will make Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.
