Battlefield 6 dominates Steam at launch and tops global sales charts
The franchise makes a massive comeback with over $100 million in pre-orders and record-breaking wishlist numbers on Steam.
Today marks the worldwide launch of Battlefield 6, and the game is already demonstrating phenomenal success, currently topping the Steam charts as the platform’s best-selling title according to SteamDB. This impressive debut comes after a series of popular open betas that signaled a major resurgence for the long-running first-person shooter franchise.
The game sits comfortably at the peak of Steam’s top sellers list, surpassing major competitors like Counter-Strike 2 and Little Nightmares 3. Beyond just the day-one purchases, Battlefield 6 has also built significant long-term anticipation, ranking as the fourth most-Wishlisted game on Steam, sitting just behind titles like Subnautica 2, Deadlock, and Light No Fire.
The financial and engagement figures leading up to launch clearly illustrate the size of the Battlefield comeback. According to estimates from video game analyst Rhys Elliot, published in the Alinea Newsletter, the game has already generated over $100 million in pre-launch sales on Steam alone. This figure is primarily driven by an estimated 1.8 million pre-orders on the platform. Furthermore, the game had amassed over 3.5 million wishlists, demonstrating a substantial player base tracking the title’s release.
The return of digital warfare
Prior to its release, we had the opportunity to play Battlefield 6. Our colleague, Vladimir Arteaga, begins his review of the new release from Battlefield Studios as follows: “After the bittersweet Battlefield 2042, many of us doubted that the essence of the series could be recaptured. Fortunately, Battlefield 6, which will be released on October 10, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, has not only delivered on its promise but has far exceeded it. BF Studios has delivered one of the best shooters of 2025 and perhaps of this console generation. By this we mean that, without a doubt, the franchise is back.”
