Battlefield 6 eliminates grind with massive XP boost update

Community feedback leads to XP boosts and weapon level adjustments.

Battlefield 6
Update:

Since its launch earlier this month, Battlefield 6 has been a massive draw for players, yet a persistent complaint has overshadowed the initial excitement: a progression system that feels overly slow and demanding. Fortunately, the developers at Battlefield Studios have listened intently to the community feedback and are rolling out a significant update today, October 17, designed to make ranking up and unlocking gear a much smoother and more rewarding experience for every player.

The core of the issue lay in the considerable time investment required for players to earn new career ranks and essential weapon attachments. To directly address this “grind-heavy” pace, the Battlefield Team announced a series of crucial adjustments. Players will now benefit from an increase in general match completion XP, alongside a substantial boost in daily bonus XP. More importantly, the XP required for the first 20 levels of weapon progression is being significantly reduced, meaning players will unlock those critical early attachments much faster and begin customizing their loadouts sooner. This change directly translates into a quicker sense of power and capability on the battlefield.

Reinforcing player-driven experiences

Beyond the XP gains, developers are also making a change to how assignments are unlocked. Challenging assignments—which unlock a significant portion of the game’s arsenal—will now be available earlier in a player’s career. Assignments that previously required career ranks 20, 23, and 26 will now open up at ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively. While the team is still actively reviewing and planning future changes to the challenges’ difficulty themselves, this shift allows players to begin working toward these key weapon unlocks much sooner in their journey.

This update also focuses on improving the health of the Battlefield Portal mode. The developer noted that the sheer quantity of “XP farm” servers was reaching the community server capacity. This resulted in legitimate players struggling to find and enjoy unique Portal maps and creative experiences. To preserve the intended spirit of Battlefield Portal as a space for “creativity, experimentation, and connection,” the studio is taking steps to diminish the number of XP farm servers.
