Battlefield 6 is one of the most anticipated titles of the year, and the impressive numbers of concurrent players in its multiplayer beta show that Call of Duty has a serious contender in 2025. However, it was recently revealed that the highly anticipated title from EA and DICE will not feature a key feature introduced in Battlefield 4: Levolution’s large-scale scripted destruction events. According to one of its producers, there is a good reason for this.

Battlefield 6 will not feature the Levolution destruction system, although it could return in the future

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Jeremy Chubb, producer of Battlefield 6, revealed why the Levolution system, introduced in Battlefield 4, will not be present in this title. This gameplay mechanic offered players the ability to cause unprecedented destruction, completely altering the playing field: demolishing an entire skyscraper or even causing floods were spectacular in-game events that made the action in the games very cinematic. However, Chubb has revealed that for Battlefield 6, its creators have decided to focus on tactical and dynamic destruction, rather than scripted destruction.

“It was a big focus for us this time around to dial in on tactical destruction, a dynamic sandbox of destruction. Environments that changed and evolved and demanded a tactical response or presented cool strategic opportunities. It invites players to explore ripping them up in different ways and different modes. I think that’s a primary focus,” Chubb commented. “With this game, we wanted it to be more grounded in feel, I guess more unpredictable and demanding in strategy or tactics. I think that was a very deliberate choice, but we love that stuff as well,” he continued.

“We put the crane in, it’s always tempting and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a return to some of the bigger scale in the future,” said the producer. Chubb is referring to a huge crane on the Mirak Valley map, the largest in the game, which players can use as a sniper’s nest... and which can be demolished, slightly altering the surrounding area with its debris.

For Chubb, this would be a nod to the classic Levolution system, although it is true that the consequences in terms of destruction for the scenario are relatively moderate. Although it has not been openly admitted, it is possible that Levolution caused performance issues, so removing it would improve the game’s FPS, especially on Xbox Series S.
