Bearded Hulk? This new Marvel tactical RPG for mobile could bring back the character’s old design
Update:

Since his debut in The Incredible Hulk #1 in May 1963, The Jade Giant has undergone numerous changes both physically and narratively. For over six decades, his appearance has constantly evolved, and now, through an upcoming title for mobile devices, one of his most “underrated” incarnations will be brought back to life.

The return of the long-bearded Hulk

According to AIPT Comics, this version of the Hulk—with long hair and a prominent beard—will be one of the seven characters featured on the September variant covers for the launch of Marvel Mystic Mayhem. This new mobile video game, developed by NetEase Games, will launch globally on iOS and Android on June 25. In addition to the Hulk, other heroes who will receive their own variant cover include Spider-Man, Psylocke, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, and Moon Knight, demonstrating the variety of characters the game seeks to integrate.

This Hulk design was inspired by the comic book run written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Marc Silvestri, which was released in 2011. In this series, the character makes an unusual appearance with long hair and a prominent beard. While not a radical departure from his classic appearance, those small details, such as facial hair and more flowing manes, were enough to give him a distinctive and memorable touch. In fact, the impact of Silvestri’s work is still felt in modern Hulk stories. The current Incredible Hulk series, by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein, features a Hulk with a similar long hair design.

Marvel Mystic Mayhem‘s arrival represents an opportunity for comic book and mobile game fans to enjoy a beloved character aesthetic. It also signifies Marvel’s commitment to connecting its properties across different media to provide a richer, more diverse experience for its audience.
