‘Beast Games’: All you need to know about the MrBeast competition on Prime Video

The famous MrBeast has done it, and after announcing one of his most ambitious projects earlier this year, a TV show with one of the biggest prizes in TV history, 'Beast Games' has finally premiered on Prime Video today. What is ‘Beast Games’?

The popular James Donaldson, aka MrBeast, is the host of this new competition where 1,000 contestants will compete over 10 episodes to survive physical and mental challenges for great prizes, including $5 million, a private island and Lamborghinis. If you’ve been following MrBeast’s crazy challenges, you can imagine what you’ll be seeing: a mix of challenges that look like a cross between ‘Squid Game’ and ‘Survivor’.

Where and when can I watch ‘Beast Games’?

While you might expect to see MrBeast content exclusively on YouTube, this show is the exception. Beginning today, December 19, ‘Beast Games’ will be available on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video. The first two episodes are available now, and each episode will be released every Thursday at noon ET through February 13.

A BeastGames full of controversy

2024 will be a year that MrBeast will remember for a long time. And it’s not that it was an excellent year, but one that was marked by controversy surrounding him, his staff, and his brand. Unfortunately, the ‘Beast Games’ were no exception.

Last September, five contestants sued MrBeast and Amazon, alleging that the show’s production suffered from a variety of problems, including “a culture of misogyny and sexism” in addition to denial of pay and unsafe conditions. The document states that several contestants suffered physical injuries, in addition to being fed “sporadically and sparingly.“ On the other hand, it also mentions that the production crew “fostered a culture and pattern and practice of sexual harassment,” while their contracts also misclassified them as volunteers.
