Bella Thorne and the “worst experience” of her life: She accused this controversial actor of injuring her genitals on set

The former Disney star and multi-talented artist has accused Mickey Rourke of abusive behavior during the filming of the 2020 thriller Girl.

Update:

Bella Thorne, the well-known actress who started her career as a Disney Channel star alongside others like Zendaya and later transitioned into directing adult films, has alleged abusive behavior from actor Mickey Rourke during the filming of Girl, a 2020 thriller in which the two co-starred. The 27-year-old actress claimed that the shoot was “one of the all time worst experiences” of her life, as 72-year-old Rourke allegedly injured her genitals during production.

While Rourke was recently competing on the British edition of Celebrity Big Brother—from which he has already been expelled—the actor became embroiled in a new controversy beyond his offensive remarks against various groups. This time, it involves serious accusations of abuse during the filming of Girl, where he shared the screen with Bella Thorne.

According to Thorne, her former co-star engaged in inappropriate, abusive, and disturbing behavior during multiple scenes on set. She made the accusations public through social media while Rourke was isolated for the reality show. The toxic dynamic between them, she said, turned into one of the most traumatic professional experiences of her career.

In one scene, Thorne was kneeling with her hands tied while Rourke was supposed to simulate hitting her leg with a metal grinder. But according to Thorne, there was no simulation: he allegedly struck her repeatedly in the pelvic area, leaving bruises and causing significant emotional distress.

“Working with Mickey was one of the all time worst experiences of my life working as an actress,” Thorne said. She also described other incidents of humiliation and mistreatment, such as Rourke allegedly demanding unsettling conditions, including asking her to come alone to his trailer to convince him to finish scenes, without involvement from the director or producers.

Rourke’s representatives responded: “These allegations are extremely serious. Mr. Rourke categorically denies any intentional misconduct. He was not made aware of such concerns during filming and was unaware of Ms. Thorne’s discomfort until now.” The statement added: “We reaffirm every artist’s right to feel safe and respected in their workplace.”

In a separate message, Thorne emphasized that her criticism was directed solely at Rourke and not the rest of the production team. “F*** Mickey - how he acted doesn’t negate the incredible hard work that everybody else put into that movie. I’m really proud of everyone and the work that was done on that movie,” she said.
