‘Berserk: The Black Swordsman’, the new animated adaptation of Kentaro Miura’s work, gets its first trailer

Kentaro Miura’s legendary dark fantasy is getting a new adaptation, except this time it’s by fans, and it’s looking incredible.

Update:
Berserk

Studio Eclypse has just shared the first trailer for the new ‘Berserk’ anime that very few could say is being made by a group of fans. Because yes, this adaptation has several acolytes of Kentaro Miura’s manga behind it who believe that his work deserves much more than those three OVAs about the Golden Age and that 2016 serial continuation that was so harshly criticized for the quality of its animation.

The studio, which by the way is also responsible for the spectacular alternative ending of ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ (‘AoT Requiem’), states that ‘The Black Swordsman’ was born from the intention of “creating an adequate 2D adaptation that narrates the ‘Berserk’ stories that have been denied to us in the medium, starting from the beginning.

The first trailer (above these lines) specifies that “The Black Swordsman” is a project created from “passion and respect for the original author and for fans of ‘Berserk’ spread around the world. All the canon characters and materials used are owned by Kentaro Miura, Studio Gaga, and Hakusensha.” They also call for fans to continue supporting the official releases of the property.

What’s more, it even offers a release date for its first episode: summer 2025. A wait that seems almost as long as the ones the manga has subjected us to, specially after the death of Kentaro Miura. Although chapter 373 will arrive this week.
