Bethesda reveals whether Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will have a physical edition or not

After some confusion about it, Bethesda has clarified information about physical editions of ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’ having a disc or not.

The news of the eventual arrival on PlayStation 5 of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle over the next year has not been the only information that has caused a stir about this long-awaited title these days. Bethesda Spain wrongly confirmed that the game would not contain a disc in the physical edition for Xbox Series X, which generated mostly negative reactions. Luckily, it was a mistake and the company has rectified the information, now sharing the correct information: only the collector’s edition of the game will contain a code instead of a disc, while Standard and Premium physical editions will contain a game disc.

Last Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Bethesda Spain used its social networks to announce the different versions available of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the next title in the saga that will be a completely original adventure and will not adapt any film from Harrison Ford specifically. It happens that the company mentioned at this time that the “physical format editions” of the game would not be such as they do not contain a disc, but instead would contain a download code to redeem in the Microsoft Store.

As many users indicated, simply having a box would not make it a “physical format” version if it included a download code instead of a physical medium on which to store the game. Fortunately, the next day the company clarified the situation, asserting that this previous publication was an error, and that the standard and premium editions of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for Xbox Series do include a disc. However, the Collector’s Edition has a code instead of a disc, the most expensive of all and the one that includes the most extras.

In this way, Xbox fans and lovers of the physical format can breathe easy, because they will be able to purchase a copy of the title in this format for their console and thus not depend on the problems inherent to the digital format, such as a possible ban that causes permanent loss of access to all titles linked to an account or network connectivity problems that make it difficult or even impossible to download content.

What editions are there of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and what does each of them include?

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be sold in several editions at different prices, and each of them includes a different amount of content:

  • Standard Edition- Includes the base game and the pre-order bonus The Last Crusade Pack. Available in both physical and digital formats. The physical edition includes the game on disc. It is possible to upgrade to the premium edition. Its price in digital format is $69,99 in Steam (digital) and $79,99 in the Microsoft Store for PC and Xbox Series X|S (digital). The final physical and digital price may vary slightly in other stores.
  • Premium Edition- Includes the content of the standard edition as well as up to three days of early access to the game, the Order of the Giants story expansion, the Temple of Doom outfit, and a digital art book. Available in both physical and digital formats. The physical edition includes the game on disc. Its price is $99,99 in Steam (digital) and $109,99 in the Microsoft Store for PC and Xbox Series X|S (digital). The final physical and digital prices may vary slightly in other stores.
  • Collector’s Edition- Includes all the contents of the Premium Edition as well as a Jumbo Steelbook display case and a 28cm Great Circle globe, a journal, and the Allmaker Relic with a game key. It is only available in physical format, but does not include the game on disc, but a code instead. Its price in the Bethesda Store is $189,99 for Xbox Series X and Steam. The final price may vary slightly in other stores.

The release date of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PC and Xbox Series is December 9, 2024. It can be played from day 1 on Game Pass for console and PC at no additional cost. For now. The premium and collector’s editions have three days of early access so starting on the 6th of this month, owners of one of them should be able to access this long-awaited video game. The game will arrive to PS5 during spring 2025, and there is no more specific date beyond this.
