Big secret revealed in One Piece 1154 unleashes new conspiracy with Akainu and Rocks as protagonists

In a particularly eventful chapter, One Piece ended its 1154 with a big surprise (spoilers!) that was not telegraphed: the true face of the legendary pirate Rocks D. Xebec, as well as the information that he is the father of Blackbeard. It was only the last panel, but the impact has been immediate and remarkable among the community, as well as serving to open a new conspiratorial path based on what was mentioned as additional information.

In Rocks’ formal presentation, it is mentioned as a detail that his infamy began when he killed a Marine admiral with his bare hands and disappeared. In the future he would reappear with a crew that was basically the ‘Dream Team’ of contemporary piracy, with several future emperors in their ranks: Edward Newgate “Barbablanca”, Charlotte Linlin “Big Mom” or Kaido, in addition to the “Golden Lion” Shiki , Gloriosa (the empress of the Kuja tribe before Boa Hancock) or Buckingham Stussy, Weevil’s mother.

Coincidence or something else?

As told, the death of the aforementioned admiral at the hands of Rock occurred in a Reverie 56 years ago, while Akainu was born 55 years ago, so the times make the event, at least, plausible. On the other hand, it would also give more background to the current Fleet Admiral’s visceral hatred for any pirate, an attitude in keeping against the collective that took his father from him before he was born. Oda likes to make these kinds of connections between characters and it is a theory that has gained strength in recent days in the wake of the finding.

Of course, this is One Piece, and speculating with theories that are either fulfilled (some) or disproved (most) is part of the magic of a series that is 28 years old. We’ll see how events unfold in future issues.
