Blizzard thanks the Overwatch community for Season 1’s reception with rewards this weekend

A few weeks ago, Overwatch underwent a significant change: it left behind the “2” and introduced a series of adjustments to mark its tenth anniversary. Five new heroes, a reset to Season 1, and a narrative that will span the entire year are part of this milestone in which, after several difficult years, Blizzard has finally managed to reconnect with its community, something that has been noticeable in the great reception it has received, with an increase in the number of players who have returned to the ranks of the heroes.

As a token of appreciation, Blizzard announced a special weekend for those who log into the game. From February 20 to 23, users who participate in matches will be able to earn exclusive rewards. What are these rewards? In addition to receiving double XP in each match, five loot boxes will be awarded upon logging in.

A rebirth for Overwatch

In early February, Blizzard held Overwatch Spotlight, where it revealed the changes coming in 2026 as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. During the presentation, it was confirmed that 10 new heroes will be added throughout the year, with five debuting at the start of the new season.

Along with Domina, Emre, Mizuki, Anran, and Jetpack Cat, a revamp of the interface and user experience was also presented, as well as the classification of sub-roles within each hero, a modification that seeks to redefine the strategic reading of compositions.

The presentation also gave a sneak peek at what’s to come in future seasons, including special anniversary events, new maps, more heroes, and additional surprises to be revealed during BlizzCon 2026 in September.
