Bloodborne’s PS4 upgrades get even better with the PS5 Pro, so is a remaster even necessary?

It turns out that the PS5 Pro can upgrade image quality for PS4 games as well, so when you throw Bloodborne into the mix, it’s a great experience.

Bloodborne PS5 Pro mejora calidad imagen boost PS4

PS5 Pro is finally releasing today as an opportunity for PlayStation to look towards what is to come in the future of consoles in terms of technology. The establishment of rescaling technologies such as PSSR (the equivalent of NVIDIA’s DLSS) allows us to lighten the graphical load to boost other elements like game visuals and performance. However, one of the company’s least discussed features is the improved image quality mode for PS4 games. We have tested it with Bloodborne and this is the result.

Bloodborne gameplay on PS5 Pro: is the upgrade worth it?

The video, which you can see above, is focused on one of the first areas of the DLC, one that was heavily demanding at the time of release due to the graphical load within the FromSoftware graphics engine. As can be seen, the image quality is somewhat sharper than in the original PS4 version or via backward compatibility on PS5. But that’s it. It is not a drastic change nor is it the boost that can be expected from a feature like this.

What we do appreciate is that it suffers less from frame skips, that is, the jumps between frames that caused so many headaches during its years in the last generation. Simply by brute force, it seems to remain stable at 30 fps in almost all of the footage. We are far from finding a version that replaces a remastering or remake; given the success of the game and the popular outcry, a reissue in the current generation seems an obvious decision despite PlayStation’s silence on the matter.

The improved image quality in PS4 games must be activated within the PS5 Pro screen settings. In the description, the company already warns us that it can cause graphical errors in some games, so you must activate it at your own risk.
