Brandon Sanderson clarifies whether the next ‘Mistborn’ book will be delayed: “I did warn you guys”
The creator of the Cosmere is putting his novels on hold to focus on his Hollywood projects.
When Brandon Sanderson announced that he would be putting his work on the first book of the “Mistborn” Era 3 on hold to prioritize writing the screenplay for “The Final Empire” movie, many fans had a bad feeling. Now, with the news that the author is also working on adaptations of ‘The Stormlight Archive’ and ‘Squadron,’ even more people are worried that the wait for that book might be extended even further. Fortunately, the creator of the Cosmere has stepped forward to reassure readers.
In the latest video posted on his YouTube channel, Sanderson mentioned that he hopes to get back to work on ‘Ghostbloods’ starting next July, but that right now he has to focus on his Hollywood projects. In fact, he pointed out that he still has 6–7 months before the book’s deadline, so he doesn’t yet feel pressured to return to it urgently. “I did warn you guys I’d be spending a lot of time on Hollywood and, indeed, I have been spending a lot of time on Hollywood. That shouldn’t slow down ‘Ghostbloods,’ which is why I was already planning to spend so much time on it before it comes out,” Sanderson added.
When is the next ‘Mistborn’ book coming out?
As Brandon Sanderson has made clear, the first book of ‘Mistborn’s’ Era 3 is still scheduled for release in December 2028. Although that’s more than two years away, the author wants to stick to this date so he can write the entire trilogy before publishing the first volume, just as he did many years ago with Era 1.
