Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s zombies terrify in the mode’s intro cinematic
Sledgehammer joins forces with Treyarch to develop a Zombies mode for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will go beyond the series’ traditional modes. Sledgehammer, with the support of Treyarch, will provide a new Zombies mode with which to expand the aspects beyond the competitive. As you can see in the video below, its introduction cutscene allows us to know the new tone that it will take with the studio.
“The scene opens on a squad of men in military garb about to conduct a nighttime raid on an unknown location,” point out the devs in an entry of the official Call of Duty website. “A familiar voice calls in support to distract the local police while the military unit moves up to breach the back door of a hotel building.”
The event takes them to an underground where they find an unpleasant surprise. “our heavily decomposed bodies are seated around a table, desiccated almost beyond all recognition. In the middle of the table sits a strange device which opens to reveal two vials filled with an active substance. One of the assailants grabs one and removes his mask to better inspect it, revealing himself as none other than Viktor Zakhaev, the ultranationalist arms dealer and enemy of Task Force 141.”
In the final scene you can see the way in which one of the companions becomes a threat. He gives that recognizable zombie scream, his eyes turn red and his skin begins to show signs that something is wrong. You can see the rest for yourself in the video.
First details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′s Zombies mode
We know that Zombies mode will be available from day one along with multiplayer and campaign mode. Among the few details they’ve revealed about the mode, they explain that we will have to contain the incursion “across different regions that escalate in difficulty, with core Zombies features and a cavalcade of secrets to discover.” It will be an open world that we will share with other squads and focused on the “player versus environment” extraction survival experience.
A new bonus is added when pre-ordering the game on any platform. Starting September 27th you will receive the Operator skin Zombie Ghost for use in current and future titles. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on November 10.
