A new trailer for the upcoming Castlevania: Nocturne, a new animated adaptation of the Konami action franchise by Netflix, shows off the sequel with style.

Update:
Castlevania: Nocturne’s new trailer faces another Belmont with the vampire messiah

The Castlevania Netflix universe is growing even larger at the end of September with the release of Castlevania: Nocturne, and the platform has just released a brand new trailer. With unbelievably cool animation, goosebump-inducing music, and glimpses of what we can expect once it releases, this new trailer presents a new cast of vampire hunters and villains.

Castlevania: Nocturne takes place in the exact same timeline as the previous Netflix animated series, but leaves behind Trevor, Sypha, Alucard, and the other characters in favor of a new era, new villains, and a new Belmont. The events of Nocturne happen years after, during the French Revolution, and sees Richter Belmont, the last descendant of the Belmont clan, facing off against a group of vampires and their cultists who are seemingly scheming on summoning a “vampire messiah”.

The Castlevania bloodline continues

With an entirely new setting and a new cast of characters to meet and fear for, fans of Castlevania have plenty to be excited about. After all, Richter was the protagonist of a couple of games in the game series, with the most prominent being Rondo of Blood, in which he’s tasked with the rescue of several maidens taken as sacrifices to resurrect Dracula himself. Afterwards he also plays a pivotal role in the quintessential title of the franchise, Symphony of the Night, in which Alucard must return to his father’s castle for reasons that we’re sure might be explored in this new sequel series.

Castlevania: Nocturne premieres on Netflix on September 28, 2023. Kevin Kolde and Clive Bradley are acting as showrunners for the new series, with Bradley also writing the script for the adaptation, Sam and Adam Deats as directors, and Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation as the producers for Netflix.

The official synopsis reads as follows: “The gory and gothic adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and their highest stakes yet. A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution to the original fan-favorite Castlevania Netflix Series. Featuring a never before seen origin story of Richter Belmont (gaming icon, and one of the Franchise’s most beloved characters). Bandana included.
