CD Projekt RED reveals that most of the studio’s employees are already working on The Witcher 4

Almost every member of CD Projekt RED is now working on The Witcher 4, meaning that over 300 developers are actively part of the monster hunter’s next title.

The Witcher 4 is one of the most highly awaited titles set to release in the coming years, so fans of the franchise are attentive to any news presented by CD Projekt RED. During the latest financial report presented by the Polish company, the studio revealed that the development of the next installment for the fantasy franchise is well in development, with hundreds of developers on board.

The report states that at this moment The Witcher 4 is known as Project Polaris, in which more than 300 employees are working. Through VGC, Adam Kicinski, the CEO of CD Projekt RED, noted that “The [Polaris] team is steadily growing, having reached almost 330 developers at the end of last month. It’s expected to grow to over 400 by mid-next year.”

These 330 developers are being led by Sebastian Kalemba, who’s been the creative director of the studio for the last few years (including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077). This news was confirmed by himself through his Twitter/X account, where he said: “Career news: I’m directing the new Witcher Saga. Since Joining CD Projekt RED I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for. I’m proud to be part of CDPR and work with such a talented and passionate team.”

The studio, comprised of almost 700 employees with more than 300 of them focused on this new project, is coming straight from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, an expansion release that was fully highlighted in the financial report, and which they noted has sold 4.3 million copies since its launch.

In addition to what was stated above, the financial report mentions that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was nominated at the Golden Joystick Awards, in the categories of “Best Game Trailer” and “Best Game Expansion.” Furthermore, highlighting his nominations in five categories of The Game Awards 2023.
