Lord of the Rings

Celeborn, the love of Galadriel that the Rings of Power have forgotten

The fifth episode of The Rings of Power will be available on Prime Video on September 12.

Tolkien fans are in luck, the second season of ‘The Rings of Power’ has already released its fourth episode. A new chapter entitled ‘Ancient’ and in which becomes very important in relation to Galadriel and Elrond. Both characters are looking for a way to Eregion, the city where the elven craftsman is forging the new Rings of Power. Also, as Prime Video points out, it is crucial that the Stranger finds what he is looking for and that Arondir and Isildur continue their search for Theo, Bronwyn’s only son.

Who is Celeborn and what happened to Galadriel’s husband?

Celeborn is a character from J.R.R. Tolkien’s lore and appears in The Lord of the Rings as Galadriel’s husband and co-ruler of Lothlórien. At the end of the Third Age he is described as one of the wisest elves in Middle-earth, and during the War of the Ring he played a key role in the defense of Lothlórien, even leading the assault on Dol Guldur. Together with Galadriel, they produced Celebrian, who later married Elrond and became the mother of Arwen, linking Celeborn directly to many of the elven protagonists.

After the end of the Third Age, Celeborn remained in Middle-earth for a time, and then joined Galadriel in the Undying Lands. This detail has been confirmed in both Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and in Tolkien’s original writings. As for ‘The Rings of Power’, it is mentioned here that Celeborn may have died in the war against Sauron and Morgoth several centuries ago, but this comment has been interpreted as a narrative device. His supposed “death” is very ambiguous and leaves the door open for Celeborn to reappear in this series in the future, as the showrunners have confirmed.
