CES 2026: ASUS ROG XREAL R1 puts a massive gaming screen wherever you are

New gaming glasses promise high-end monitor performance without the TV or desk.

Update:

The battle for TV viewing continues to be a hot topic in the living room, and technology has always shown us new ways to overcome it. During CES 2026, Asus unveiled the ROG XREAL R1 gaming glasses, which allow you to put a huge high-end monitor right in front of your eyes.

A 171-Inch Screen, Anywhere You Go

The core promise of the ROG XREAL R1 is simple yet transformative: put them on, and a massive virtual screen appears in front of you. The glasses feature Micro-OLED technology running at a 240Hz refresh rate. This means silky-smooth animations and motion clarity that rivals premium desktop monitors. The immersion factor is driven by a 57° field of view (FOV). It simulates the experience of sitting in front of a 171-inch display from four meters away. allowing you to see more of the game world without losing touch with your actual surroundings.

Furthermore, with a 0.01ms response time, input lag is virtually non-existent, ensuring that your reaction times remain razor-sharp whether you are playing a casual RPG or a multiplayer match.

Anchor Mode and Bose Audio

One of the standout features is Anchor Mode, making for a more natural “monitor-like” feel, Anchor Mode uses built-in 3D depth of field (DoF) technology to pin the virtual display in a fixed position in space. This lets you look away to check your phone or grab a drink, then look back at your game, just as you would with a physical screen.

The ROG XREAL R1 incorporates Sound by Bose, optimizing audio specifically for the glasses’ form factor. This ensures that whether you are gaming or watching a movie, the soundscape is as immersive as the visuals.

The included ROG Control Dock acts as a bridge for your entire setup. You can connect both a gaming PC and a console to the dock, and switch the headset’s input between them with a single button press.
