Chests are returning to League of Legends: Riot reverses recent changes and adjusts champion prices

The League of Legends community threatened to go on strike, and Riot Games is taking its share of the blame for the upcoming changes to the game.

League of Legends cofres vuelven

There was talk of a League of Legends fan strike. The community said “enough” and wanted to send a message to Riot Games about the changes they were making to the game’s rewards. The studio slammed on the brakes and backtracked on some of the proposed changes. The fans have asked and the studio has responded, but is it enough?

First, chests: The most popular way to get skins in League of Legends is back

The chests are back. Starting in Act 2 (first week of March), 10 chests and 10 keys will be available. Among the chests, 8 of them will be distributed for free through the Battle Pass, replacing the seasonal skin and “1350 or Lower skins.” The reason for including them in the pass is to answer a simple question: it is a way to reward the player’s investment of time “regardless of different playstyles”. The other two remaining chests are earned through Honor.

However, things have their deadlines. While Riot Games works on the final Honor system, Honor chests will be delivered “through missions.”

Other adjustments to make League of Legends more accessible: lowering the price of champions, the return of Clash...

One of the things the team will be doing from now on is to lower the price of Blue Essences for all champions. Yes, as you read, all of them. It will be a 50% reduction starting in Act 2. This will pave the way for those players who started their journey in League of Legends much later than the original launch.

On the other hand, the paid Season Pass skins will replace one of the non-prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essences. In Act 2, the paid skins will be for the champions Darius, Sion, and Talon.

Good news for vintage fans: Clash will return once a month to provide veterans with the purest League of Legends experience.
