Civilization VII has been announced during SGF2024, ready to take one more turn of your time

Surrender your time and attention, for the king of time sinks has returned: during Summer Game Fest Live 2024, 2K Games and Firaxis revealed our first look at Civilization VII, a new entry into the legendary Sid Meier series of grand strategy games where history is remixed and relived in a very addictive way.

And yes, you already know the drill: start from the ancient age with a few settlers and build up towards a bright future by taking control of the land around you. Exploit nature’s riches, discover forgotten technologies, and either make friends with or aim to conquer your neighbors in your path to world domination. As always, this can be achieved not only through war and violence, but with the rise of your culture or technological advancements. In previous games’ expansions, you could even create and spread your own religion and win like that, so we’ll have to wait and see just what surprises await us in this new game.

Long Live Civilization, the king of strategy

While the surprise what slightly spoiled by a leak earlier in the day, the news of a new civilization is still as incredible for its fans as can be. We already knew that 2K Games was set to make an announcement, but with the previous game released so long ago (back in 2016), a new title was bound to happen sooner or later. Still, the franchise typically follows the release of the base game with a few expansions that re-introduce certain features and gameplay mechanics, so the same could be expected of Civilization VII.
