Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the winner of GOTY 2025: This is the Best Game of the Year at The Game Awards
The Game Awards show is over, and we have the 2025 GOTY.
Once again, we had a long night of news and awards. The Game Awards 2025 is now in the history books, and with that, we know the results of the shortlist of six titles that were recognized by the specialized press as the best of this year. On this occasion, the big winner of the night was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by Sandfall Interactive, which received a standing ovation at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles tonight to be recognized as the game of the year 2025.

Before arriving in Los Angeles, Expedition 33 had swept the awards season: seven Golden Joystick Awards, including Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Soundtrack, Best Visual Design, and Studio of the Year for Sandfall Interactive, as well as parallel recognition for its music on Billboard charts and at specialized ceremonies. At The Game Awards, it landed with a record-breaking thirteen nominations, ranging from direction and narrative to performance and music, before capping off the night with the GOTY award, which brought things full circle in an almost inevitable way.
Sandfall Interactive leaves with its hands full, taking home the Best Indie Game, Best Performance - Jennifer English, Best Art Direction, Best Debut Indie Game, Best Score and Music, Best RPG, Best Narrative and Best Game Direction awards as well.
