CoD Modern Warfare 3 Fans Are Furious As They Discover New Multiplayer Unlock System

The Armory Unlock System changes the way equipment is obtained in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has changed some of the franchise’s classic systems in its multiplayer mode. Among the changes is the way weapons are unlocked, with a new system that does away with levels to choose which items you want to own. We take a closer look at how it works and why players are unhappy with the change.

How does Armory Unlock work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?

The Armory Unlock is a feature that you will have access to starting at level 25 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. You will see that many weapons, devices, and field upgrades are locked behind the completion of a series of challenges. Specifically, each one will require you to complete daily challenges to unlock it.

Let’s say you want to get your hands on the Semtex. You need to activate the challenge log and complete three of the daily challenges. What’s the problem? The Daily Challenges are finite. Once completed, you will have to wait for the next rotation to get more. Of course, Sledgehammer Games has thought of this possibility: once you run out, the wins in the standard games will add up.

Some require more challenges than others. To get the Karambit (knife), you need to complete 5 challenges, while unlocking the Heartbeat Sensor requires 8. You can have one unlocked at a time and three in a queue that will automatically unlock when you unlock the previous one.

As they were previously only available by completing the first 55 levels, not all players welcomed the change. “Such an abuse of the players’ time to have to hit a level requirement to unlock the ability to grind to unlock the weapon and then grind for the attachments and then the camos.,” said u/EnergyVanquish on Reddit. Another user, u/Turbulent_Penalty341, points out that they had fun “until I hit level 25″, which is when this system is unlocked. “I even tried to swallow that it was just killstreaks, perks, guns, but then went to put an attachment on the Striker and realized you have to for each individual attachment as well.,” he writes. It’s worth noting that you can also get attachments by simply leveling up the weapon, but it takes a little longer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
