CoD: Modern Warfare 3 was made in less than a year and a half by crunching its workers.

The first game in the series after the purchase by Microsoft is a demonstration of everything that must change from now on in the development of the next games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

The harsh reality experienced during the development of the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been made public in a new report by journalist Jason Schreier in Bloomberg. He highlights that the game was made in less than a year and a half, with employees working nights and weekends to complete the title.

The note highlights that “most Call of Duty games are developed in around three years. But Modern Warfare 3 was made in less than a year and a half.” A disastrous experience that confirmed everything that must change in the saga after the purchase by Microsoft. The sales will be there, but this fact does not justify the overwork suffered by the employees and the final quality of the product received by the players.

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign mode for those who hate the series

The multiplayer focus of the saga is also noticeable in a campaign mode that at times feels like a game of Warzone, with open levels that detract from the spectacular nature of what could have been an adventure full of intensity and great moments. In the analysis made by our colleagues in Spain, it is highlighted that “many Call of Duty players do not touch the story mode even with a stick. They focus on the multiplayer (or the zombies) and that’s it. But many others do, because even if it hurts, throughout its history the saga has given us some of the best missions and campaigns in the shooter genre. That’s why we’re sad to see its levels turned into Warzone games. They seem to be made to cover the file and present the multiplayer mechanics. They betray the original formula, abandoning the fast pace and spectacular situations to focus on open areas that we must face from “stealth”.
