CoD Modern Warfare 3: When is ranked coming to MW3?

Ranked Play on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 was supposed to have already started, but a “critical issue” has resulted in a delay. When can players expect the mode to launch?

It’s been a bumpy week for Call of Duty players, and it’ll continue to be for a while: As part of the game-breaking update that has caused CoD: Warzone to become almost unplayable instead of the grand launch of Season 1 Reloaded, the long-awaited Ranked Play for MW3 has been delayed indefinitely.

“Launch Delay: Due to unforeseen circumstances, MWIII Ranked Play will be delayed while we investigate a recently discovered critical issue,” says the official announcement on Twitter/X. “Our teams are working to solve this issue and launch #MWIII Ranked Play as soon as possible.”

When will Ranked Play be available in CoD: Modern Warfare 3

At the time of writing, neither Call of Duty, Activision, or any of the involved studios of the game have shared any more details about when to expect the mode to arrive. This means that there are no clues about how long the fix will take. It could be only 24 hours, an entire week, or even more. This situation is most likely caused by the previously mentioned botched update that hit the game yesterday during the Season 1 Reloaded start.

What was supposed to bring two new weapons, a new map, a ‘The Boys’ event, and much more content instead turned out to be a cavalcade of issues that have rendered Warzone and MW3 almost unplayable through visual glitches, crashes, heavy frame drops, and even strange geometry popping out from the map.

Originally, Ranked Play was meant to come to the game at the same time as this last update was set to launch on January 17, 9 AM PT. With no other statement, we’ll have to keep an eye out for when the new mode finally releases.
