‘Creature Commandos’, the first product of James Gunn’s new DCU, now has a definite date on Max

The new DC animated series will kick off the new superhero cinematic universe later this year and will follow ‘Superman’ in 2025.

While ‘Superman’ is the first major film of James Gunn’s new DCU, scheduled for July 2025, the new DC cinematic universe will kick off in the same year, 2024, with ‘Creature Commandos’, an animated series based on this peculiar group of anti-heroes that already has a definitive premiere date on HBO Max: December 5. And if recently it was pointed to a premiere later this year, now we know the exact day we can enjoy the start of the new DCU.

‘Creature Commandos’: December 5 in Max

So, during the last few months we have known details of ‘Creature Commandos’, arriving just a month ago to a trailer that left us wanting more and which you can see below. Now we finally know its premiere date on the Warner Bros. streaming platform, a series that promises violence and a very peculiar sense of humor, not recommended for all audiences, of course.

Written and directed by James Gunn himself, the director recently stated that he has already previewed all seven episodes of the series, with the first two episodes being 100% finished and the next three episodes almost finished. This gives the ‘Creature Commandos’ animation team nearly three months to complete the final two episodes in time for the series premiere on Max.

‘Creature Commandos’ follows the adventures of a group of military-trained anti-heroes, including their human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein the monster, and a gorgon. “The story follows Amanda Waller as she assembles a covert special ops team of monster prisoners in a series that will usher in a new era of storytelling in the DC Universe,” the show’s creators said.

‘Creature Commandos’ will premiere on December 5 on Max.
