Update:

After Spotify announced its price increase last month, we have another subscription going up. Crunchyroll has officially announced a price increase for all its subscription tiers in the United States. Effective immediately for new members, the cost of accessing the world’s largest anime library is rising by $2 per month across the board. Existing subscribers will have a short grace period, as the new rates will not be reflected in their billing cycles until after March 4, 2026.

This adjustment marks the second price hike since Crunchyroll merged with Funimation. While the service previously adjusted its higher-end plans in May 2024, this update is particularly notable for the Fan Tier, which sees its first price increase since 2019. The new monthly structure is as follows: the Fan Tier moves to $9.99, the Mega Fan Tier to $13.99, and the Ultimate Fan Tier to $17.99. These changes come closely on the heels of the service officially discontinuing its free, ad-supported viewing option at the end of 2025.

Expanded features to enhance the player experience

To help justify the new costs, Crunchyroll is emphasizing a series of platform enhancements aimed at improving the user experience. One of the most significant additions for entry-level users is that the Fan Tier now supports offline viewing on one device—a feature previously reserved for higher-priced plans. Additionally, the service is rolling out high-demand technical features such as multiple user profiles, “Skip Intro” and “Skip Credits” buttons, and improved parental controls through PIN-protected teen profiles.
