Maggie Smith, an experienced veteran in the service of film and television

Maggie Smith’s career is so extensive that we would have to write dozens of paragraphs to review her work. She began in 1955 in a small role in the BBC series ‘Sunday-Night Theatre’. Her passion for the television format accompanied her for much of her career, with roles in projects such as ‘All for Love’ (1983), ‘Talking Heads’ (1988) and ‘David Copperfield’ (1999). During the mid and late 20th century she also had an important role in cinema, as Miss Bowers in ‘Death on the Nile’ (1978) and Mrs. Medlock in ‘The Secret Garden’ (1993).

But it wasn’t until the jump to the new millennium that she managed to captivate half the world. Many young people grew up watching her play Professor McGonagall in the adaptation of ‘Harry Potter’ on the big screen. The parents, on the other hand, knew her as Violter Crawley, the eternal Countess of Grantham in the series ‘Downton Abbey’ (2010-2015). Rest in peace.
