David Corenswet’s audition for Superman goes viral: “He was born to play Superman!”
James Gunn’s Man of Steel movie has elevated Corenswet’s career.

James Gunn has put DC Comics’ famous superhero Superman back on the map with a film that is climbing the list of the year’s highest-grossing movies. With it, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy revives a franchise with a new face, that of 32-year-old American actor David Corenswet. The publication of his audition, which quickly went viral on social media, proves that he was always the right choice to play the iconic character.
You can always tell who went to Juilliard and who didn’t. Corenswet is such a theatre kid and it’s so great. He channeling Reeve so much here it’s wild. Also, if you haven’t seen his student projects and shorts, you’re missing out. They’re absolutely fantastic https://t.co/QScnaCGH1l

David Corenswet as Superman
With this audition, described by X users as “fantastic,” “David Corenswet was born to play Superman! He is Clark Kent!” another person raved. “What an amazing audition tape!” Corenswet beat out Jacob Elordi, Andrew Richardson, and Tom Brittney as Henry Cavill’s successor. Until this role, the actor’s career had begun to take off with his participation in Ryan Murphy’s miniseries ‘Hollywood,’ the horror film ‘Pearl,’ and the remake of ‘Twisters,’ but it was James Gunn who catapulted his career.
Rated 90% by audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, Superman has grossed over $600 million internationally, making it a huge success. Gunn has stated that he is already working on a sequel, which will arrive “much sooner than later.”
