David Jaffe, creator of God of War: “Sons of Sparta is just insulting to the fans”
The title, developed by Mega Cat Studios, has caused the former head of Sony Santa Monica to explode.
The creator of God of War has not liked the new video game in the series. Announced during the most recent State of Play and released on the same day as the event, the title tells the origin story of Kratos, when he was still a Spartan warrior. David Jaffe has harshly criticized God of War: Sons of Sparta, calling it trash.
Jaffe has emphasized that this is not the game that God of War fans want: “It’s crap, it’s dumb, it’s stupid. I would say avoid this fucking thing.” Although he has said on X that Sons of Sparta is well-made, he has also added that he finds it boring and generic. However, in the video, he has exploded.
He considers it an insult to those who made the game as well
“What I’ve played, which was only about an hour of it, and I’ll never go back to it. It’s just get over yourselves, man. It’s like they just kept stopping over and over and having the characters just talk and talk and talk. And the voice acting is not very good.”
The former director of Sony Santa Monica believes that God of War: Sons of Sparta is “insulting to fans and to the people who worked on the game. What were they thinking? Why does it exist? I don’t understand it, I just don’t get it.”
God of War: Sons of Sparta is a two-dimensional game that serves as a prequel to the classic. It is available exclusively for PS5.
