DC Comics reveals a new universe, Absolute, that begins with ‘DC All In’
‘Absolute Batman’, ‘Absolute Superman’, and ‘Absolute Wonder Woman’ will kick off the new DC Absolute universe as new versions of the characters, but it’s not a reboot.
After a few months of rumors, a new alternate DC Universe in the comics has been officially announced: ‘Absolute’. This new timeline will start after the end of the Absolute Power event, this month of October specifically, and it will do so with a special issue called ‘DC All In’, with scripts by Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson, and art by Wes Craig and Daniel Sampere.
This will be the new Absolute universe of DC
Not many details have been specified yet about the scripts not only for ‘DC All In’, but also for the series that will arrive later starting in October, but everything seems to indicate that this new world has been created by Darkseid. According to Snyder, it will be “a new, dangerous, wild new planet that will be part of a larger story that we will tell over the next few years.”
This world will be much darker, and as Snyder goes on to explain, the heroes “have to be tougher, they have to be more resourceful, and they gotta shine brighter.”
“This is something we’ve been working on forever,” Said Snyder. “We’ve been working on it for about two years behind the scenes. The idea is to create the greatest jumping-on point for you guys in many, many, many years. What we came up with, along with a bunch of great creators -- Mark Waid and everybody else working on the lead up to it -- is that, during the events of AP, unbeknownst to the superheroes, Darkseid starts to realize that something has always been missing. He senses something in a special moment during Absolute Power that we don’t want to spoil. He senses something has changed, and once he realizes this, it sets him off on a quest that’s going to bring him into direct conflict with this new Justice League that Superman is setting up -- this more robust Justice League. The collision between those two forces will reshape the DC cosmology”
This ‘DC All In’ issue will be, as we see, the beginning of three other series: ‘Absolute Batman’, ‘Absolute Superman’ and ‘Absolute Wonder Woman’, which, as seen in the promotional image of this event, will have very different looks than usual.
