Xbox Game Pass

Dead Island 2 just got added to the Xbox Game Pass library, with a catch

Feel like getting some zombie-killing into your day? Dead Island 2 just got added to Xbox Game Pass today!

Update:
Dead Island 2

Without much warning, Dambuster Studios and Microsoft have announced that Dead Island 2 is now available to play on Xbox Game Pass. The zombie adventure was released by surprise this morning, with the studio later clarifying that the game is only available for Game Pass Ultimate members.

The announcement reads: “With the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate version, you’ll have unlimited access to the base game on Xbox, including co-op functionality. So, there’s no need to go it alone – gather your squad and take on the horde together in thrilling co-op action.” an exclusive release for the Ultimate Tier of Game Pass is rare enough, so combined with its sudden release the news is a bit of a whiplash for many players who did not expect it at all.

Additionally, the game is only available for consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S) and streaming through Microsoft’s cloud service. Still, the game is a very welcome addition to an already stacked library of games to play. You can find the rest of the month’s additions to the library right here but expect even more to be announced soon for the next month.

Dead Island 2 is also making its way to Steam

Just last week, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios announced that Dead Island 2 would be coming to Steam on April 22, 2024. At the time they gave away Dead Island Riptide: Definitive Edition for free on said platform, but that offer has since ended.

Dead Island 2 released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, and on PC through the Epic Games Store on April 21, 2023. You can read our opinion on the game through this link, but suffice it to say that the very long wait for the game ended up being completely worth it, with a more linear structure that mixes open areas with handcrafted moments and fantastic storytelling, as well as some incredible combat and mechanics that keep you hooked on it for hours on end.
