Deadpool 3 Filming stops: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Join SAG-AFTRA Strike
As reported by Variety, Deadpool 3 filming has been halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike; Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have joined the pickets of the writers and actors. This is quite a notorious event since the Marvel movie is one of the biggest productions affected by this strike.
The most recent news that we have had of Deadpool 3 has been the confirmation of the return of the classic Wolverine comics costume, and the unexpected return of actress Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra from Daredevil (2003) and Elektra (2005). We have also seen new pictures from the filming set of a deadpool vs wolverine fight.
Deadpool 3′s release date was May 3, 2024 in the United States. We still do not know if this strike will cause the release of this film to be delayed —since there has been no official confirmation at the time of writing — although everything points to it.
The SAG-AFTRA union represents more than 160,000 artists, including actors, advertisers, presenters, DJs, stuntmen, and television journalists. Strike participants are fighting to improve their wages and working conditions. Hollywood is in a very delicate moment; if the production companies do not comply with the requirements of SAG-AFTRA, we will surely see a good number of delays or even full cancellations of quite a number of projects underway.
