‘Deadpool and Wolverine’: Hugh Jackman had to eat the equivalent of 24 Big Macs a day to stay in shape
Hugh Jackman had to go through an extremely harsh diet while filming ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, as he had to eat incredible amounts of food to maintain his physique.
Hugh Jackman gave it his all when it came to becoming The Wolverine once again. The hero’s image is that of a strong man, hard as a diamond and agile as a cat. However, those biceps aren’t just achieved by hitting the gym. The actor had to endure a high-calorie diet to be able to film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The harsh diet that Hugh Jackman had to endure to become Wolverine again
During his visit to Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, Jackman admitted that he had to eat 6,000 calories a day to maintain the level of training he underwent while shooting the film. If we break down the numbers, it is the equivalent of eating around 24 Big Mac burgers every 24 hours (approximately 257 calories per unit). A true madness that gives even more value to its interpretation.
Logically, at 55 years old it is more difficult for him to achieve that figure than when he played him in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. On that occasion, he was 40 years old and already boasted a hard torso. “When I came back to it, it was really fun and I was thrilled. My body was a little sore at the beginning, but I was thrilled that my body was still responding. And I realized how good it is for your brain. But the hardest bit…the food.I have to eat a lot. For me, for my body type, I’m naturally skinny. To get the size on, that’s the hardest bit. That’s the bit that does my head in,” said the actor a few weeks before the film’s release. By now, it is more than clear that he passed the test with flying colors.
