Marvel Studios

‘Deadpool and Wolverine’s R-Rating makes it “the most wholesome R-rated film that anybody can ever see”

Kevin Feige trusts that the R-Rating obtained by the newest Deadpool movie won’t scare away the audience

Deadpool and Wolverine’, the only film of Marvel Studios that will hit theaters this 2024, premieres this July 25. That is why those responsible, including the president of the company, Kevin Feige, are putting all cards on the table to make the film a total success, even encouraging the most family-oriented audience to go to movie theaters despite it being rated R for adults due to the high level of violence and foul language characteristic of the Merc with a Mouth. This is according to what the MCU CEO told Deadline in a recent interview.

And 18+ movie for all audiences?

Even though ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will show without hesitation high doses of violence and endless irreverent jokes with tons of profane language, Feige believes that a good part of the regular MCU audience will be able to go to the movies without any fear, letting it slip that while it’s R-rated, the film is also suitable for teenage viewers.

“I think people can tell from the trailer and from the press tour so far, yes, it’s R-rated, yes there’s some language and blood, but the film is incredibly emotional. I keep calling it the most wholesome R-rated film that anybody can ever see. It really is a celebration of friendship and family and of found family. I don’t want to overdo it, but for all the R-rated raunchiness that gets attention, when people see the movie, it’s going to be about how heartfelt it is — in my opinion, much more than the first two Deadpool films. That’s what I’m really excited about, once people get past the ‘F’ words and the R-rating, to see how sweet it is.”

We will see if Marvel Studios manages to adapt the familiar tone of the MCU narrative to the visual spectacularity and past personality of the Merc with a Mouth franchise in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ with its theatrical release set for July 25, in order to attract the maximum number of people to theaters.
