Death Stranding 2: On The Beach already has a release date, but Hideo Kojima can’t reveal it yet

Fans of Hideo Kojima waiting for news on Death Stranding 2: On The Beach had a pretty good weekend, as PlayStation had a special presentation for the title.

Hideo Kojima may be expanding his reach into movies, podcasting, and all sorts of entertainment other than video games, but there’s no denying he makes for some intriguing previews. Such is the case with Death Stranding 2, which just had a special presentation by PlayStation showcasing more about the upcoming title, which has only ended up raising many questions more than what we already had. One of those that continues to go unanswered is its release date, but Kojima seems coy about sharing that information.

“We haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has been decided and I’m currently working in preparation for that,” said Kojima during the presentation. “Since we are talking about 2025, it will be released next year and we will announce it at some point next year. But due to unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today.”

What those circumstances were will continue to be a mystery for the audience and the industry until the director chooses to reveal it, but at the very least we do know now that they plan to release at some point in 2025.

Death Stranding is Kojima at its weirdest

Babies in containers, ghosts, life after death, and uniting people through deliveries and favors. Death Stranding is absolutely one of the strangest combinations of topics and themes to have graced the video game industry, but one that ended up being extremely poignant at the time of its release.

Kojima’s first project after going independent, it appears as though he’s planning to continue confusing players with even stranger visuals and situations with this sequel. “As I said at the beginning, I am currently putting together the game, so it’s not finished yet, but I’m feeling really good about it and it’s even weirder than Death Stranding 1.” From what we’ve been shown so far, we can’t disagree with that statement.
