Update:

After a historic 2025 in which 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle’ achieved heights that no other anime film had ever reached, 2026 kicks off with a new version that will premiere on February 6 in Japan.

This is the re-release of the film in IMAX theaters with IMAX ratio, making it the first anime film in history to be released in this format. Proof of this can be seen in the trailer, which shows the expanded aspect ratio of 1.43:1, offering more footage at both the top and bottom of the screen in certain scenes.

A historic success that aims to continue shining in theaters in 2026

This format is presented as the ideal way to enjoy what is, so far, the best version of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle. Only two theaters in Japan will be able to screen this re-release in IMAX format with IMAX ratio: Grand Cinema Sunshine in Tokyo and 109 Cinemas Osaka Expo City.

In addition, the first 100,000 people to attend this version of the film will receive a special IMAX visual illustration panel featuring Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka in an action pose. For now, it is unknown whether this version will be released in theaters outside Japan, but it is yet another example of how the highest-grossing anime film in history continues to find new ways to stand out on the big screen.
