The third ‘Dune’ movie in the Denis Villeneuve trilogy, tentatively called ‘Dune: Messiah’, is getting closer to becoming a reality. According to Deadline, its director will return earlier than expected to get ready for the filming of the film.

Villeneuve admitted that he “go back behind the camera faster than I think.” He also admitted that he “thought that after Part Two that I will take a break, that I will go back in the woods and stay in the woods for a while to recover. But the woods weren’t really suiting me, and I would go back behind the camera faster than I think. But that’s all I can say.”

The Canadian-French director hinted what would be a possible release date for ‘Dune: Messiah’, as rumors emerged that it would not be released until the end of 2025. Villeneuve simply stated: “2026.” Furthermore, he admitted that these types of films require a lot of time to make, so he prefers not to say out loud when filming is going to start.

Which actors and actresses will return to ‘Dune: Messiah’?

The director has confirmed that the main cast will return for this third movie. Timothée Chalamet will be Atreides again, while Zendaya, Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor-Joy will return to reprise their characters. “They have to return. They are with the main cast when it happens. And more worms. What can I say?” He also admitted that ‘Dune: Messiah’ “will finish the Paul Atreides arc.”
