Diablo 4’s first season now has an official starting date and a very specific prerequisite
Season 1 of Blizzard’s Diablo 4 will bring new content to the game in the form of monsters, bosses, mechanics, and more, all wrapped in a new story.
After a month of touring Sanctuary, Diablo IV finally reveals all the information about its first season. Titled “Season of the Malignant”, the first season will start on July 20, 2023 and includes a new character, powers, boss, and equipment that we can enjoy in its free or premium version. Of course, we will need to meet a requirement if we want to delve into this new adventure:we should have finished the main story.
Delve into corruption
Diablo IV: Season of the Malignant has revealed its mechanics and new content. In this new campaign,we must save Sanctuary from corruption, a kind of epidemic that runs rampant transforming what it touches into aberrations. For this we will havea new character class, Cormond, a priest of the Cathedral of Light who will be part of a journey to discover the origin of corruption and stop its advance.
Among the new content that we are going to see in this first season are:
- New questline focused on corruption, made up of 7 chapters with their respective objectives and rewards.
- A new Character, Cormond.
- New powers, called Malignant Powers, which we can unlock using the Malignant hearts that the corrupted enemies drop when killed. A total of over 30 new powers will be available.
- A new boss, Varshan the Consumed
- New gear
Two types of battle pass
As usual, this first season of Diablo IV will come with a battle pass in two options, one free (be careful, that doesn’t mean we don’t have to have the game purchased) and a premium paid one. The good news is that the free battle pass includes the entire plot of this season (plus 27 rewards that we can get by leveling it up), while the premium unlocks 63 extra rewards which will be exclusively cosmetic items, so any version ensures that you can play the campaign.
